Tuesday 19th June: The Play Room, London W1

This special event features four UK R&B artists who will each perform one Motown cover and two of their own productions alongside a 7 piece live band. Ras Kwame (1xtra/ Radio 1) will take you through their motown influences and explore their personal journey. Ronnie Herel (1xtra) will be taking us through the past 60 years of R&B with a special set.

Winner of the National Music Award, London based singer - songwriter Iman is set to take the music industry by storm. The singer, who describes her music as Jazz/ Soul /Pop, has been grafting hard for her dream of becoming a well-respected artist for a number of years. The recent National Music award was presented by Bucks Music Group Publishing, Rock School and The British Academy of New Music, in acknowledgment for her outstanding achievements in composing and recording music.

Her song 'Who Was I Trying to Fool?' is on the latest Gilles Peterson compilation album Brownswood Bubblers, out now. The song has received much attention in the UK and as far as the States. For this reason the label has released it as a single. Another one of her Songs 'Trust in Me' recently maintained the number one spot for three consecutive weeks on an internet radio site after numerous requests and votes by listeners. In addition another of her songs 'Stormy Weather' was named song of the week by Radio One's DJ Q in 2006.
